You Are Totally Forgiven

You Are Totally Forgiven

Hi guys this is the grand finale of the series on Philemon 1:6 which has been an amazing series on checking out some of the amazing benefits that we receive as Christians through our faith in Christ. I know for me it has been very informative and transformative and I hope it has been for you. If you enjoyed any post please do leave a comment after this post and if this is your first post you can read every other post in the article session of my blog.

Now let us dive straight into today’s post. While I was working on the final post I just realized that the entire Christian life is a life where we keep finding our identity by beholding Christ everyday, and in essence this is a series we all do every single day for the rest of our lives because our goal is to be more like Christ and the only way to achieve it is to keep beholding Christ that reveals how much like him we really are.

So in essence from this series we have not scratched the surface of what we have in Christ in any way so this is something we will have to do every now and then. I am at least grateful to God that we have been able to talk about some key realities in this series, and today I want to talk about an absolutely amazing Truth which is total forgiveness of sins by Jesus sacrifice.

It is Finished

It is no news that we are in a covenant different from the one God had with the children of Israel through the law of Moses. In this new covenant forgiveness of sins is different because in the old it was temporary and repeated but since Jesus death forgiveness became a one time event since Jesus shed his blood once and for all time.

Hebrews 10:11-12

11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

In this scripture we understand that the blood of animals could only cover sins but they could never take them away but thanks to the blood of Jesus sin was dealt with one time and now Jesus our high priest is seated not standing and working like the high priests of the old covenant. Jesus is the man who offered the once and for all sacrifice for sins we just have to believe that his sacrifice is enough for us, that is all he requires of us.

New Covenant Key

The gift of total forgiveness is a major key of the new covenant and when it is received we can easily accept His free gift of no condemnation and righteousness all placed in His grace and grace alone. I know this because in the announcement of the new covenant has prophesied by the prophet Jeremiah we see a major clause that makes the covenant make sense in verse 12 of Hebrews 8 and that is the fact that God chose to not remember our sins and lawless deeds anymore because all he focuses on now is the blood of his Son that was shed on the cross for us. It will be injustice to Jesus to count our sins against us when he punished them on Him. This reality is what leads to the popular statement “I am not a sinner because I sin, or Sinning does not make you a sinner”. You can read my post on that subject HERE.

Hebrews 8:12

For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

In 1John 1:7 which says …..the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sins. In the original greek that word cleanses is in continuous tense so it paints a different picture of forgiveness than we are used to. It’s like every believer is under a waterfall of constant cleansing by the blood of Jesus, we are always clean and forgiveness is always guaranteed because of Jesus.

To round up this series I want you to realize how important total forgiveness is through Jesus practice while he was on earth. A few times before Jesus healed someone he forgave their sins, have you ever wondered why he felt it was necessary to forgive them first before healing them? The reason is simple as humans it is hard for us to receive something from someone when we think we have wronged the person, unforgiveness deprives us from confidence to receive from God. That is why Jesus forgave them so they could feel confident and comfortable to be healed by Jesus. There are many people who do not pray for healing because they do not believe God can forgive them for all the bad they have done before especially when that could be the reason they have that ailment in the first place. If you are that person I want you to know that God wants you healed more than you want yourself healed so ask him today.

Psalm 103:3

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

In this psalm David puts forgiveness of sins before healing of sickness and I don’t believe it is a coincidence. Total forgiveness is a powerful tool and I believe if you get someone to believe God is not mad at them they can easily accept healing from God.

Relax in this truth and enjoy his grace and mercy that are new every morning.

Thank to everyone that stayed with me through this entire series, God would perfect all that concerns you as you walk in the reality of his finished work.

God Bless

  1. Making a state of forgiveness can be done in personal or with a trusted individual, through writing, artistic expression, imagination, or distinct therapeutic approaches. No matter what your way, don’t forget your ultimate aim &mdash to lift the emotional clouds inside of you and cost-free by yourself from the negativity that keeps you tied to the past.
