The Great Surgery

The Great Surgery

Salvation of a human being by Jesus is the greatest thing that could happen in the life of a man. It involves a whole lot more than Jesus taking away our sins; therefore a man must therefore know the totality of all the gifts received and changes that has taken place to effectively walk and experience them. A gift you are ignorant of cannot influence your life that’s why I’m starting this short series based of Philemon 1:6 on some of the vital changes that we sometimes ignore as believers. Knowing and believing them activates its effectiveness in our lives

Philemon 1:6

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus

There is one big change, a major surgery that took place in your life the moment you welcomed Jesus into your heart and I like to call it a great heart transplant because that’s the best way to describe it. Our heart was changed and upgraded to a new heart.

This new heart comes with a new spirit also, they both happen immediately after salvation and it changes everything about how we want to act because the new heart is one that beats to serve the Lord.

Ezekiel 36:26-27

26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

This revelation is something every believer should be conscious of because the heart is a very important part of the human body and out of the heart springs the issues of life… Prov 4:23.

David’s Prayer

David the man after God’s heart desired this surgery more than anything and prayed a prayer that has become a reality in our very lives today. In this Psalm of repentance written after David committed adultery with Bathsheba, we see David pleading with God’s grace and mercy which he knows is always available. While he never got to experience this awesome heart transplant he believed in it, we are so lucky we enjoy its manifestation and therefore we should enjoy it.

Psalm 51:10

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

We walk in the manifestation of this prayer and we do not need to pray about it like David did because it has become our reality the moment we got saved, all we need do is to realize it and live conscious of this truth.

Ever wondered why the moment you got saved you just could not stand doing some things anymore; the reason is there has been a big change in you. Never let anyone make you believe you are the same person, you aren’t because you have a heart filled with his laws of love and perfect faith in him as said in Hebrew 8:10 of a new covenant believer’s relationship with God.

Man’s thoughts

While Jesus has cleaned house, moved in, replaced our stony heart and given us his Spirit, we must know that our thoughts that stems from our flesh still exists and we should learn to ignore them and realize that the redeemed man we have become isn’t the source of the evil and sinful thoughts we get from time to time. These thoughts do not mean you have a wicked heart, your distaste for them is further prove that the new heart surgery that took place was a success. Ignore them, they will always be there and you must avoid making them your identity, they are nothing more than a parasite.

2 Corinthians 10:5

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ

Everyday we must subject every wayward thought to the truth of what Christ has done in our lives.

This revelation knowledge we confess makes us live worthy of Jesus calling in our lives, wake up everyday and enjoy this new heart we have received.
