So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
How can anyone have faith? It’s quite simple as all you need to do is listen. While listening is the answer what you listen to is also important. Paul says faith comes by hearing the word of God nothing else.
Faith comes by the simple act of hearing, you need to know that fear also comes via the same means; your ears.
If faith comes by hearing and hearing, we realize that the repetition signifies that it’s the consistency in listening that builds your faith not in the Sunday to Sunday word you hear from your pastor in church. Consistency is important, you need the word of God everyday no matter how little.
I believe fear is the opposite of faith and for that reason I will talk about how powerful faith is at overcoming fear.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
While fear is natural, yes we all get scared every now and then as humans. The Bible says we don’t have the spirit of fear as believers. When we live in constant fear its obvious that’s not our correct nature. The Bible isn’t telling you not to get scared it is saying when you do get scared get rid of it because it is not in your nature. The next question becomes how do I get rid of fear? The same way you get it is the same way you get rid of it. If fear comes by hearing you need to listen to something else that takes that fear away and replaces it with something else. The best substitute for fear is faith that comes from God’s word.
In essence what I’m saying is that God’s word is true and we should live by it as Christians. For every seed of fear in your heart there’s a promise from God in his word that can sure cast those fears away.
If you are scared about how unsafe this world is remember Psalm 91 that says he that dwelleth in the secret place (Christ) of God is save. Meditate on scriptures like this to walk in divine protection. When you get scared that God has left you cause of something you did remember in Romans Paul said when sin abounds grace abounds much more which means you didn’t fall out of grace but into grace, by the way God also said emphatically that he will NEVER leave you nor forsake you, that’s pretty assuring. Scared about what tomorrow may bring? remember Isaiah 41:13 God says he will hold your right hand so fear not.
There are many scriptures that build your faith which will in turn drown all fears you have away, we must only remember the Bible says it comes by hearing and hearing (consistency). Never stop reading the word of God because it has the ability to build you up.
What are you scared off? God’s word has a promise for that situation. Whatever you do never keep that fear in, get faith instead for in the process you drown away those fears. You can also share those fears with someone starting from God to men you trust. Use my contact tab if you want to share anything with someone neutral. God bless
This new week evaluate what you listen to or watch, remember you do not have to watch everything. You have a choice to stop listening to bad news trust me you’re not missing much when you don’t know every bad thing that happens around you.
Thought of the week: Faith that drowns out fear comes not just by hearing once but by the continuous hearing of God’s word. Every time fear comes you have an opportunity to choose to have faith instead.
